Pendulum is seeking a Bioinformatics/Data Science Intern with experience analyzing high-throughput biological datasets (e.g., RNA-Seq, DNA-Seq, metabolomics) to work closely with our Data Scientists, Software Engineers, and Lab Scientists to design and analyze experiments to improve our product. 
What You'll Do
  • Design, implement, and develop custom analysis pipelines
  • Release statistical software packages for internal use
  • Present to the company at the end of the internship

About You
  • Master’s in Bioinformatics, Statistics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, Mathematics, or related field, with at least a 3.0 GPA
  • Solid knowledge of statistical techniques, e.g., EDA, regression analysis, hypothesis testing and ML methods
  • Strong programming skills: 3+ years in R or Python, 3+ years in Unix/Linux environments using Bash, Make, Github, and related Unix tools.
  • Self-motivated thinker who is enthusiastic about problem solving
  • Minimum availability of 12 weeks
  • Demonstrated track record of self-directed work

Pendulum is seeking an experienced Cloud/DevOps Engineer or Senior Cloud/DevOps Engineer with strong Amazon Web Services experience to work collaboratively with our Software Engineers and Data Scientists to build, test, deploy and monitor cloud and laboratory software services, recommend and implement security and performance best practices, and provide  R&D systems support. Remote work could be considered for the right candidate.
What You'll Do
  • Deploy and manage cloud services using AWS and GCP
  • Own CI/CD process
  • Help automate and streamline our computational pipeline
  • Build and maintain tools for deployment, monitoring and operations
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues in our dev, test, and production environments
  • Provide documentation and guidance to developers for proper deployment and testing procedures
  • Identify security issues and corresponding best practices to help manage systems risk
About You

We are looking for a Director of Supply Chain to join our team and lead  our Supply Chain processes for both our commercial and clinical operations. This role is well-suited to a big thinker who is up for the challenge of streamlining our current supply chain operations into this newly created department.  Reporting to our Chief Scientific Officer, you will play a crucial role in aligning our supply chain and building best practices to meet the needs of our clinical trials and newly commercialized product.

What You'll Do:
  • Provide leadership and support in planning, development and execution of supply chain activities
  • Develop and oversee the Supply Chain department’s vision and strategy 
  • Oversee Inventory Management and inventory control for both commercial and clinical operations
  • Manage the supply/demand forecasting process, and reconcile demand forecast with the production plan
  • Lead strategic planning and execution to enhance profitability, productivity and efficiency throughout the company’s operations
  • Plan and forecast materials requirements
  • Manage the inhouse and offsite storage of bottle inventory
  • Manage raw material and finished goods inventory
  • Oversee the fulfillment and shipment of customer orders
  • Oversee the procurement of direct and indirect categories
  • Serve as point of escalation for vendor performance issues 
  • Participate in ERP Systems requirement list, design, and implementation 
  • Oversee the maintenance of shipment documentation including requests, quote, POs, invoices and bills
  • Provide oversight of the SCO budget
  • Develop business processes and procedures to monitor and track shipments
  • Maintain current and accurate distribution and logistics files
  • Manage monthly and weekly inventory reporting 
  • Manage and grow the Supply Chain team, including: Facilities, Shipping and Receiving, Fulfillment, and Procurement
  • Plan and forecast clinical trial materials to ensure supply is delivered on time for clinical trials
  • Manage distribution and logistics for clinical trial activities to warehouses, CROs; including IVRS systems for clinical trials as needed
  • Other duties as assigned
About You:
  • B.A./B.S. in relevant discipline (operations, materials management, finance, manufacturing), required. Advanced degree, preferred
  • 8+ years experience in supply chain, with 3+ years experience in a management level role within this function, preferred
  • Experience owning the Supply Chain function within a commercial organization
  • Startup experience working in Supply Chain through product commercialization, required
  • Experience developing forecasting templates and managing supply/demand process
  • Experience with ERP systems and design specifications
  • Experience with business processes and operational excellence
  • Collaborative and able to work cross-functionally

We are seeking a Manufacturing Associate to join our growing team and support Pendulum’s current and future commercialization efforts. In this role, you will operate large scale fermenters to meet production needs for clinical trial studies, as well as for commercial release. Working closely with our stellar Manufacturing, Quality, and Compute teams, you will be working hands on in the front lines of production, while helping to continuously improve our cutting edge bioprocess from the ground up. Our ideal candidate brings previous experience in a cGMP bioprocess or biotechnology setting, and enjoys working with precision in a fast-paced, changing environment, while bringing kindness, collaboration, passion, and dedication to their work.
What You'll Do:
  • Weekly setup, running, and tear down of large scale fermentors including monitoring of in-process fermentation parameters
  • Ensure batch records are filled out accurately and completely according to cGMP guidelines.
  • Weigh out chemicals and prepare medium and/or buffer solutions following detailed instructions
  • Assist in monitoring of manufacturing inventory and preventative maintenance of process equipment
  • Assist in seed train propagation and downstream processing of fermentors
  • Ensure Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) are followed and reflect the current process 
  • Undertake and implement projects with a focus on safety and/or compliance risk reduction, process and equipment robustness improvement, and capacity/productivity/efficiency enhancement. 
  • Ensure department is clean and organized at all times and free of hazards and safety violations, maintain areas in high state of inspection preparedness
  • Maintain records to comply with regulatory requirements utilizing current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) and SOPs
About You:
  • AA or BA/BS in a technical field (biotechnology, chemical engineering, bioengineering, microbiology, biochemistry) or equivalent experience, and experience working in a cGMP industrial setting
  • Familiarity with bench scale fermentation units (e.g. PALL, Sartorius, DASGIP, Applikon and New Brunswick Eppendorf)
  • Knowledge of anaerobic microbiological techniques and SIP & CIP of process equipment, a plus
  • Strong attention to detail and strong experience in aseptic techniques, required
  • Ability to work off hours and weekends as needed
  • A team player with an open, transparent communication style, required
  • Proficient in Google suite and/or Microsoft Office
  • Must be able to lift 50lbs and stand for long periods at a time

The Manufacturing team is seeking a Process Engineer with plant start-up experience that will join our talented operations team to initially start-up, commission, qualify, troubleshoot, and maintain a new cGMP fermentation and fill-finish (freeze-drying and capsule) manufacturing facility located in the heart of San Francisco. Our ideal candidate is well-versed in fermentation science (preferably bacterial), fermentation equipment, cell separation processes, process development/optimization/control, validation testing, and cGMP practices. As our Process Engineer, you will be responsible for the scalability of upstream and downstream processes from laboratory scale to commercial scale. We are seeking an energetic, creative, and highly self-motivated team member that enjoys finding solutions for fermentation development while working closely with a team of manufacturing associates and microbiologists, as well as cross-functionally with the rest of our organization!

What You'll Do:
  • Provide start-up and tech transfer support of microbial fermentation and solid dose manufacturing processes and equipment including single-use bioreactors, centrifuge, filtration systems, freeze-drying, gelatin capsule filling, bottle filling, packaging, labeling, and process utilities including clean water systems, process air and gasses, and waste systems.
  • Provide support during commissioning, engineering runs and validation of process equipment.
  • Draft SOPs and Preventative Maintenance SOPs.
  • Provide training support for manufacturing technicians on new equipment and processes
  • Provide troubleshooting, repair and preventative maintenance support of automated process equipment and facilities.
  • Work with equipment and calibration contractors.
  • Support tech transfer of processes between facilities and from company to CMOs
  • Provide support for engineering and QA change control, and implement corrective actions.
  • Work with the process development team in the scale-up of new processes.
About You:
  • BS in Chemical Engineering, or equivalent
  • 2-5+ years of GMP bioprocess plant experience
  • Excellent communication and technical writing skills
  • Strong planning and organization orientation
  • Good time management skills
  • Works well within cross-functional teams consisting of members from a variety of different backgrounds and experience levels
