Pendulum is seeking a Bioinformatics/Data Science Intern with experience analyzing high-throughput biological datasets (e.g., RNA-Seq, DNA-Seq, metabolomics) to work closely with our Data Scientists, Software Engineers, and Lab Scientists to design and analyze experiments to improve our product.

About You

We are looking for a Director of Supply Chain to join our team and lead  our Supply Chain processes for both our commercial and clinical operations. This role is well-suited to a big thinker who is up for the challenge of streamlining our current supply chain operations into this newly created department.  Reporting to our Chief Scientific Officer, you will play a crucial role in aligning our supply chain and building best practices to meet the needs of our clinical trials and newly commercialized product. 

Our ideal Director of Supply Chain is someone who thrives within a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment, who gets excited about reducing waste and increasing efficiencies, and who has seen how an organization’s supply chain changes as a product goes from R&D through to commercialization.
What You'll Do:
  • Provide leadership and support in planning, development and execution of supply chain activities
  • Develop and oversee the Supply Chain department’s vision and strategy 
  • Oversee Inventory Management and inventory control for both commercial and clinical operations
  • Manage the supply/demand forecasting process, and reconcile demand forecast with the production plan

About You:
  • B.A./B.S. in relevant discipline (operations, materials management, finance, manufacturing), required. Advanced degree, preferred
  • 8+ years experience in supply chain, with 3+ years experience in a management level role within this function, preferred

Pendulum is seeking a Human Resources Operations Manager to join our company to execute the day-to-day HR operations of our growing organization! Reporting to our COO, you will initially be the primary member of our HR team, which will grow as our company grows. What You'll Do:
  • Own and manage all HRIS systems, including any future improvements and changes as we grow and evolve
  • Manage the annual benefits open enrollment process, including identifying benefits and plans that will support the attraction and retention of high performing employees while also reflecting the company’s culture and values 
  • Ensure legal and regulatory compliance with Federal, State and San Francisco specific requirements are met and reflected in company policies and programs
  • Create systems to track and administer leaves, and act as the main contact for employees taking medical and/or family leaves 
  • Manage benefits administration on a daily basis, including educating and providing benefit information to candidates and employees 
  • Provide support and direction to employees around interpersonal communication and job related interactions; offer support for other employee relations situations that may arise

  • Partner with IT and Office Management to plan and facilitate new hire on-boarding
  • Implement off-boarding process, including creating documentation and conducting exit meeting with terminated employees
  • Work with Accounting and payroll to ensure our employees are classified and paid correctly
  • Participate in total rewards surveys
  • Identify and administer employee trainings to ensure compliance with legal requirements 
About You:
  • 5-7+ years of experience in Human Resources at growing organizations, with a proven track record of increasing responsibility over time
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Behavioral Science, Psychology, Philosophy, Human Resources Management, Organizational Development, Business Management or related fields, required. Human Resources Certification; or Master of Business Administration with a concentration in Human Resources, preferred
  • Experience with HRIS systems required; familiarity with Zenefits preferred
  • Experience with - and working knowledge of - running an HR Operation in compliance with applicable laws, including experience writing policies and process documentation.  
  • Familiarity with current CA and federal employment laws, (FMLA, etc.)

We are seeking a Manufacturing Associate to join our growing team and support Pendulum’s current and future commercialization efforts. In this role, you will operate large scale fermenters to meet production needs for clinical trial studies, as well as for commercial release. Working closely with our stellar Manufacturing, Quality, and Compute teams, you will be working hands on in the front lines of production, while helping to continuously improve our cutting edge bioprocess from the ground up. Our ideal candidate brings previous experience in a cGMP bioprocess or biotechnology setting, and enjoys working with precision in a fast-paced, changing environment, while bringing kindness, collaboration, passion, and dedication to their work.
What You'll Do:
  • Weekly setup, running, and tear down of large scale fermentors including monitoring of in-process fermentation parameters
  • Ensure batch records are filled out accurately and completely according to cGMP guidelines.
  • Weigh out chemicals and prepare medium and/or buffer solutions following detailed instructions
  • Assist in monitoring of manufacturing inventory and preventative maintenance of process equipment
  • Assist in seed train propagation and downstream processing of fermentors
  • Ensure Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) are followed and reflect the current process 
  • Undertake and implement projects with a focus on safety and/or compliance risk reduction, process and equipment robustness improvement, and capacity/productivity/efficiency enhancement. 
  • Ensure department is clean and organized at all times and free of hazards and safety violations, maintain areas in high state of inspection preparedness
  • Maintain records to comply with regulatory requirements utilizing current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) and SOPs
About You:
  • AA or BA/BS in a technical field (biotechnology, chemical engineering, bioengineering, microbiology, biochemistry) or equivalent experience, and experience working in a cGMP industrial setting
  • Familiarity with bench scale fermentation units (e.g. PALL, Sartorius, DASGIP, Applikon and New Brunswick Eppendorf)
  • Knowledge of anaerobic microbiological techniques and SIP & CIP of process equipment, a plus
  • Strong attention to detail and strong experience in aseptic techniques, required
  • Ability to work off hours and weekends as needed
  • A team player with an open, transparent communication style, required
  • Proficient in Google suite and/or Microsoft Office
  • Must be able to lift 50lbs and stand for long periods at a time

The Manufacturing team is seeking a Process Engineer with plant start-up experience that will join our talented operations team to initially start-up, commission, qualify, troubleshoot, and maintain a new cGMP fermentation and fill-finish (freeze-drying and capsule) manufacturing facility located in the heart of San Francisco. Our ideal candidate is well-versed in fermentation science (preferably bacterial), fermentation equipment, cell separation processes, process development/optimization/control, validation testing, and cGMP practices. As our Process Engineer, you will be responsible for the scalability of upstream and downstream processes from laboratory scale to commercial scale. We are seeking an energetic, creative, and highly self-motivated team member that enjoys finding solutions for fermentation development while working closely with a team of manufacturing associates and microbiologists, as well as cross-functionally with the rest of our organization!

What You'll Do:
  • Provide start-up and tech transfer support of microbial fermentation and solid dose manufacturing processes and equipment including single-use bioreactors, centrifuge, filtration systems, freeze-drying, gelatin capsule filling, bottle filling, packaging, labeling, and process utilities including clean water systems, process air and gasses, and waste systems.
  • Provide support during commissioning, engineering runs and validation of process equipment.
  • Draft SOPs and Preventative Maintenance SOPs.
  • Provide training support for manufacturing technicians on new equipment and processes
  • Provide troubleshooting, repair and preventative maintenance support of automated process equipment and facilities.
  • Work with equipment and calibration contractors.
  • Support tech transfer of processes between facilities and from company to CMOs
  • Provide support for engineering and QA change control, and implement corrective actions.
  • Work with the process development team in the scale-up of new processes.
About You:
  • BS in Chemical Engineering, or equivalent
  • 2-5+ years of GMP bioprocess plant experience
  • Excellent communication and technical writing skills
  • Strong planning and organization orientation
  • Good time management skills

We are seeking a QC Specialist to join the growing Pendulum Therapeutics Team. In this role you will be on the front line of building out our QC capabilities as we have just launched our first product which addresses Type II Diabetes and we are ramping our manufacturing capabilities to match with the market demand.  

As the QC Specialist you will join a team headed by a seasoned FDA veteran and you will be working within a small department that will be expanding consistently over the next few years.  A large focus of your work will be to optimize, validate and utilize QC methods.  You will take your proficiencies alongside your background of working in a cGMP environment to consistently analyze and verify that all products coming from our manufacturing lines are being created and sent to market within the highest standards set by the FDA. 

What You'll Do:
  • Perform operation, maintenance and troubleshooting of instruments including flow cytometers, and thermocyclers 
  • Oversee preventive maintenance and calibration of QC instrumentation in the Production QC Lab
  • Collaborate with Compute Scientists to manage the collection and tracking of assay data
  • Performs technical investigations of discrepancies, deviations, and unexpected results and support the implementation of corrective and preventive actions
  • Interface with molecular and computational groups in order to assure optimal viability testing
  • Responsible for ongoing stability program of finished product
  • Escalate any potential quality issues revealed during QC testing or processing of products, especially quality or regulatory issues with the potential to affect product quality or regulatory compliance
  • Collaborate with multiple departments in the optimization and implementation of flow cytometry
  • Assist in the development and implementation of multistrain viability assays and validate microbiological test methods
  • Train other QC Technicians
  • Other duties assigned as needed
About You:
  • Extensive knowledge in flow cytometry instrumentation, reagents, and software platforms preferred.
  • Previous experience in a cGMP environment preferred 
  • Previous experience working with anaerobic chambers and aseptic techniques preferred
  • Analytical troubleshooting and method validation with problem solving skills in each of these areas
  • Molecular techniques utilizing bacterium i.e. PCR, DNA extraction, and Western Blot 
  • Must be proactive, results oriented, and have strong attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Microbiology, Biology, or a closely related scientific discipline is a plus
